PRACTICES

Folkstyle practices for K-5th graders begins in October.  Please wear a T-shirt and shorts, knee pads(optional), headgear(optional), and wrestling shoes.  If there is no school, there is no wrestling practice.  Practices for 5th-12th graders (Freestyle and Greco-Roman) begin in late February/early March. In May, the focus of most USA Wrestling Tournaments turns to preparation for regional and national competitions.

TOURNAMENTS

We encourage everyone to participate in the tournaments.  The Fall schedule will be linked with High Country Youth Wrestling for competition-for which most are on Saturdays. HCYW can be found on Facebook at "highcountryyouthwrestling". There is no cost to compete in tournaments but there will be spectator fees. We will have schedules available at practices. Wrestlers must have the Limited Folkstyle Wrestling Card to participate ($15).

The Spring schedule is available. Please visit ncwrestling.org for complete spring tournament schedule and  preregistration for each tournament. The cost is $10 per wrestling style per tournament.  The 3 styles are Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco/Roman. Folkstyle begins the season and about April 1st the transition is complete for Freestyle and Greco. Singlets are preferred for tournaments and headgear is highly recommended. Wrestlers must have a Full Membership Card for all tournaments ($45).​



Entry fee for spectators is generally $3.00 per person.
